Questions parents ask
Do you take my insurance?
We send claims for you to PPO dental plans. We are out of network with DHMO plans. Give us each person's card and we check the benefits before your visit. How fees work lists it all.
What if I don't have insurance?
You pay at the visit, and we tell you the fee in writing before any treatment. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.
Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?
No. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. We can give you an itemized receipt, and we're glad to point you to an office that is.
Will it hurt?
Most cleanings feel like pressure. If a tooth needs work, we numb it first and wait until it has taken effect. Raise a hand and we stop.
How often do we need X-rays and cleanings?
Dr. Casillas decides for each person. Many people come twice a year, some less often and some more.
What is a deep cleaning?
It cleans below the gumline, in sections, usually with the area numbed, over one to four visits. A regular cleaning doesn't reach there.
Do you see children, and from what age?
Yes, from age 3. For a younger child, call us and we'll talk it over.
What counts as a dental emergency?
A tooth knocked out or broken, or a toothache that won't ease, calls for a call to us. Swelling that spreads, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop needs an emergency room, and a life-threatening emergency needs 911.
Do you offer sedation?
No. We use local numbing, and we go as slowly as you need. If a treatment needs more than that, Dr. Casillas refers you to a dentist who does and explains how it works.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask any time. We give an estimate in advance for treatment, and one page for each person.
Does anyone speak Spanish?
Yes. Dr. Casillas and Erasmo Perea speak Spanish and English.
How do I change or cancel a visit?
Call us as early as you can, and we'll move you. We book family visits together, so tell us if anyone in the group can't make it.
Still have a question?
Call us or send a request, and we'll write back.
